Lip Haul: Topshop Lipsticks & Favourite Lip Balm Ever
I recently did a spot of online shopping and took advantage of a 20% off sale on feelunique.com - one of my favourite sites for beauty products. I first discovered it back in 2011 when I lived in Australia and the words "worldwide shipping" were more than usually satisfying. It's free when you spend more than $20 USD (not hard) and I've never paid duties on any orders (either in Australia or Canada). They have deals and discounts quite often and the shipping speed is pretty good. The best thing in this little parcel is the Nuxe Rêve de Miel lip balm - this is special edition packaging celebrating 20 years of moisturized lips. It's my favourite lip balm of all time and it's a workhorse. I keep one of these on my bedside table, one in my purse and - I'll admit it - a back up in the cupboard so I'm never without. I apply it before bed and in the morning it's still on. I've never tried another lip balm with such staying power. For that reason, it's also perfect to wear for a run or workout. I use this all year but wintertime is when it really shines. Last December I was in Banff, Alberta to try snowboarding for the first time. It was -39 and this stuff didn't disappoint. The box says it's been "tested in extremely cold conditions in Canada" and I can now say the same: tested and verified. Canadians can also find this at Shopper's Drug Mart.I was really excited to see that Feelunique now stocks Topshop beauty products! I love the Topshop line of lipsticks: great pigmentation, long lasting, fairly priced. My local Topshop (I say those three words gratefully after having none for. so. long.) barely stocks the beauty range and I've never seen these two particular colours: Rio Rio and Whimsical. I've had an eye on them for a couple of years after seeing them on Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere. Doesn't a brand new tube of lipstick just look amazing? There's something about the blunt cut of it straight out of the bullet that's so nice. It's as if the lipstick is saying, "Well, I can look this good on my own. Let's see if your face can improve me."Rio Rio is a gorgeous orangey red shade that I thought would be great for summer (well, anytime, but that helped me justify the purchase...). I think this intense colour will brighten my pale complexion. If nothing else, bright lips help distract from tired eyes.Whimsical is much less in your face. To me, it's a nod to the kind of 60s mod look that you'd pair with a flick of black liquid liner. I'll have to be careful to wear this with blush or bronzer so it doesn't wash me right out.Have you tried any Topshop lipsticks? What's your go to shade?
