Best Headphones Ever
I've been a fan of theidea of noise-cancelling headphones for quite some time. I've always wondered why they don't sell them on long-haul flights because people would probably line up to buy a pair, at least I would. Since I've never had the opportunity to buy them as an impulse purchase mid-flight, I've just never felt I could justify the cost...until the kids next door got a drum set. My work involves looking at a lot of video and needing to hear it accurately and this doesn't jive with drumming and screaming coming through the thin wall of my 100+ year old home. So I went to the store to scope them out and try some on. I'm glad I did because these were literally the only pair I liked. Most of them I found super heavy and uncomfortable on my head. These were light weight, soft, and - I'll just say it - pretty. They were also the most expensive. Go figure. I left the store hoping that maybe the neighbour kids would just find a new, less audible pastime soon. When I got home later that day, I found a Bose box sitting on my desk. My incredibly thoughtful boyfriend had bought them for me as a surprise.I've been using them for about six months now and I love them. They've completely solved the issue of needing quiet to work and the sound quality is fantastic. The only tricky part is that they work so well that I literally don't hear things I need to hear...like the doorbell, phone, or someone trying to get my attention. After a tapping-me-on-the-shoulder incident that I swear made my heart skip, my boyfriend has adopted a more coronary-friendly strategy of standing in the doorway and yelling until I turn around :) My point is that they work. The 'noise-cancelling' function is powered by a AAA battery and controlled with a switch. You can wear them as normal headphones or flip the switch when there's some noise you need to negate. I need to get better at switching that function off when I'm not using them so I don't tear through batteries.Have you tried noise-cancelling headphones? I'd love to know - what's your favourite brand?
